'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith renews battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the thrilling closing stages of Swansea's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The game ended with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear following the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range shot from outside the box, and the defender quickly hammered in the rebound before charging toward the home end to mark the goal, with supporters swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The result capped an incredible comeback given the team had been behind 2-0 deep into the latter period. Amid the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator shouting out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result secured a next round match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that far out," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right defensive wing after the team changed formation. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they are adept at control and slow down a game. You can believe you're doing well and then without warning they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be alert every second of the game. It takes a tough attitude and attention just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at his former club and has rapidly replicated that in his new home. At his previous team he reunited with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier Salford, before he departed Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a slightly green going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without real physicality. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that development for both domestically and internationally, shining for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the last several matches, including both legs fixtures against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

It has been an incredible journey for the player from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his father, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's sole appearance for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was shut owing to conditions of bitter cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he recalls, chuckling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "The decision proved quite easy, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I thought I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a small coach driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to spend time with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and behind the wheel. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with supporters on the Tube after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
